Board Certified in pediatrics and pediatric surgery, Dr. Pablo Obregon Nava has been practicing medicine in the Matamoros area for the last 18 years. Dr. Obregon and his staff provide personalized care in a professional, comfortable and relaxing environment. Office visits are unhurried and thorough, patients have their doctor's cell number and Dr. Obregon even makes occasional house calls! Dr. Obregon completed his Medical Degree at the Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara, completed his residency in pediatrics at Centro Medico Noreste in Ciudad Obregon and his residency in pediatric surgery at Centro Medico Nacional La Raza in Mexico City. His training and his private practice has specialized in treating pediatric gastrointestinal disorders, food allergies, asthma and pneumonia. Ninety-eight percent of Dr. Obregon's pediatric surgical procedures are conducted using local anesthesia. Dr. Obregon was the chief of pediatrics/pediatric intensive care unit at Hospital Pumarejo 1990-1997, the president of the local College of Pediatricans in 2000 and has taught embryology, pediatric surgery and general surgery at various medical schools over the last decade. He has several publications and spent over 10 years giving lectures throughout Mexico on inguinal canal pathologies. Dr. Obregon is certified in PALS, Pediatric Advanced Life Support and is on staff at the Hospital Centro Medico Internacional Emergency Department.

Dr. Hector Montalvo

Dr. Montalvo is one of only two Board Certified pediatric urologists practicing in the state of Tamaulipas. He recieved his medical degree from Tec de Monterrey medical school, one of the top medical schools in Latin America. During his medical training he completed two medical school rotations in the United States. His first at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston and the second at Texas Children's Hospital under the tutiledge of Dr. William Pokorny. He completed his residencies in pediatrics, pediatric surgery and a sub-specialization in pediatric urology at Centro Medico Nacional Siglo 21 in Mexico City. CMN Siglo 21 is recognized as having one of the best pediatric urology residency programs in Mexico. Dr. Montalvo has been in private practice for over eight years and sees a variety of pediatric patients, from clinical gastroenterology and common respiratory illnesses to intestinal malformations, undescended testicles and vesicourethral reflux. Dr. Montalvo is trained in the latest laparascopic surgical techniques and has published several papers on the use of minimally invasive surgery in pediatrics. Dr. Montalvo is an active member of the Colegio Mexicano de Cirugia Pediatrica, Consejo Mexicano de Cirugia Pediatrica and the Sociedad Mexicana de Cirugia Pediatrica and maintains surgical priviledges at Hospital San Jose in Monterrey. Additionally, Dr. Montalvo has been a professor of pediatrics and pediatric surgery at the UAT school of medicine over the last 5 years. Dr. Montalvo is certified in ACLS, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, and PALS, Pediatric Advanced Life Support and is on staff at the Centro Medico Internacional Emergency Department.

Dr. Vanessa Zertuche

Dr. Vanessa Zertuche is a Board Certified pediatrician that is passionate about instilling a discipline of preventative care, particularly in children from 0-5 years of age. She is a firm believer in the old adage "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure'. Dr. Zertuche attended medical school at the UAT in Matamoros and completed her residency in pediatrics at the Hospital Regional de Especialidades No.25/ Centro Medico Nacional in Monterrey. During her pediatric residency, she completed a pediatric cardiology and infectology rotation at Driscoll Children's Hospital in Corpus Christi, Texas, under the tutiledge of cardiothoracic surgeon Dr. Mark Morales and infectious disease specialist Dr. Jaime Fergie. Over the past five years, Dr. Zertuche has focused her practice on pediatric internal medicine, early stage child growth and development, pediatric diabesity, childhood and adolescent illnesses. She offers in-office immunizations, tuberculosis testing and regular pediatric check-ups. Dr. Zertuche is certified in PALS, Pediatric Advanced Life Support and is on staff at the Centro Medico Internacional Emergency Department.

Dr. Patricia Salazar

Dr. Patricia Salazar is a Board Certified pediatrician practicing in the Matamoros area for over 10 years. She attended medical school at the UAT in Matamoros and completed her residency at the Hospital Infantil de Tamaulipas in Victoria. During her residency she completed a pediatric cardiology rotation at the Hospital Universitario de Monterrey. Dr. Salazar's practice focuses on general pediatrics, well-child visits, vaccinations, child growth and development. Dr. Salazar has significant hospital experience and has been on staff at the Hospital General over the last 9 years. During this time she has been responsible for pediatric care in the areas of neonatal intensive care, labor & delivery and pediatric neurology. Dr. Salazar will complete an advanced certification in pediatric neurological development and rehabilitation in July of '08. Dr. Salazar is certified in PALS, Pediatric Advanced Life Support and is on staff at the Centro Medico Internacional Emergency Department.

Dr. Jorge Diaz Moreno

Dr. Jorge Diaz Moreno has been practicing pediatrics and the sub-specialty of neonatology (care of sick newborns 0-30 days old) in Matamoros for 20 years. He is one of four Board Certified neonatologists in the area and he specializes in treating newborns with respiratory insufficiency, cardiopathies, infections, neurological disorders and/or intestinal problems. Dr. Diaz received his medical degree from the Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon in Monterrey and completed his residency in pediatrics and sub-specialization in neonatology at Hospital San Jose Tec de Monterrey in Nuevo Leon. Dr. Diaz has extensive training and experience in the neo-natal intensive care field and is an expert in the hospital care of premature babies. Last year Dr. Diaz and his neo-natal intensive care team at CMI Hospital were highlighted by a local TV station on their extraordinary care of a 26 week old preemie that weighed 680 grams (1.5 lbs) at birth. He is the current president of the local Colegio de Pediatria de Tamaulipas and is an active member of the Asociacion Tamaulipeca de Neonatologia. Dr. Diaz is certified in PALS, Pediatric Advanced Life Support and is on staff at the Centro Medico Internacional Emergency Department.
