Dr. Beatriz Raya is an ophthalmic surgeon who has served pediatric and adult patients with eye problems in the Matamoros area for the past 4 years. She attended the UAT School of Medicine in Matamoros and completed her residency in Opthamology and Ophthalmic surgery at the Hospital Universitario (UANL) in Monterrey. Dr. Raya's practice ranges from the first grader that needs an eye exam and a prescription for glasses to the grandmother who suffers from cataracts, glaucoma or diabetic retinopathies. She performs corrective eye surgery with LASIK, is up to speed on the use of new medications such as the anti-angiogenic intra-ocular vaccines for diabetic retinopathy and is fellowship trained in the most modern photoemulsification techniques for cataract surgery. Additionally, Dr. Raya has a special interest and experience managing eye problems related to rheumatoid conditions such as arthritis. Dr. Raya is a believer in providing multidisciplinary care which often times requires the assistance of other specialists to help manage a patient's diabetes, cholesterol and blood pressure

Dr. Eloy Rodríguez is in his 15th year of practice as an ophthalmic micro-surgeon. With over 5,000+ patients treated for cataracts, Dr. Rodriguez is one of the most experienced local surgeons specializing in treatment of patients with cataracts and diabetic retinopathies. Dr. Rodriguez attended the UAT school of medicine in Matamoros and completed his residency in Ophthalmology and Micro-surgery at the Unidad de Alta Especialidades IMSS #25 in Monterrey. He is trained in phacoemulsification, the most modern cataract surgical technique and he utilizes state of the art equipment and innovative bio-tech products (such as the anti-angiogenic intraocular vaccines) for the treatment of eye complications related to diabetes. Ninety-nine percent of Dr. Rodriguez's surgeries are performed in an ambulatory setting using local anesthesia. Dr. Rodriguez has extensive experience in corrective eye surgery such as CustomVue LASIK, ReSTOR lens implants and laser & AGV implant treatments for glaucoma. He is a regular participant in medical conferences throughout Latin America and has participated in the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute's (#1 Eye Hospital in the US) Inter-American Continuing Medical Education conferences for ten consecutive years.
